Collection Love | Veronica B. Vallenes
Copehhagen-based, Norwegian-born designer Veronica B. Vallene's S/S 2011 collection has me swooning with delight. It's styled to perfection with long peach silk skirts that drape perfectly, to soft coats in black and white paired perfectly with halters, trousers, and high-waisted bikinis. I love the elegant feel of the colour palette — soft greys, dusty roses, and whites. It's understated glamour at it's best. Above and below are my picks. Visithere to see more from this collection, and be sure to explore all her collections.

Stylist Rebecca Newport
I love the idea of painted spoons on display and found these by stylist Rebecca Newport and thought I’d show you what I’m referring to. I’ve noticed painted spoons (in chalky matte paint) a few times in magazines lately and wonder if this is the beginning of a new styling trend in photography? How about painted bowls too? If so, great, because there is a lot you can do with this idea!

New Work By Samantha Hahn
Who can get enough of fashion illustration, am I right? That is why when Brooklyn-based illustrator Samantha Hahn wrote in to share her latest work I couldn’t resist showing them to you. Colorful, cheerful, energetic, whimsical… and just in time because this is when we need color the most to boost our spirits — the dead of winter! Looking at her images reminds me that Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait!
If you like what you see above, Samantha is part of a fashion illustration gallery show at Gallery Hanahou in New York City that opens January 20th and these four pieces above are part of that show. The great part is, that if you like one of them you can buy it before the show opens — you have first dibs! Each illustration is 16 x 20″ and comes framed and matted in white gallery frames and are $500 USD each. If you are interested in purchasing, please contact Koko: koko AT cwc-i.com to help with the process.
The name of each print appears above and I’m sure that you’ll agree that they are very special pieces. What a lovely job Samantha and good luck with the show!

Tao Te Ching
10
When the intelligent and animal souls are held together in one embrace, they can be kept from separating. When one gives undivided attention to the (vital) breath, and brings it to the utmost degree of pliancy, he can become as a (tender) babe. When he has cleansed away the most mysterious sights (of his imagination), he can become without a flaw.In loving the people and ruling the state, cannot he proceed without any (purpose of) action? In the opening and shutting of his gates of heaven, cannot he do so as a female bird? While his intelligence reaches in every direction, cannot he (appear to) be without knowledge?(The Tao) produces (all things) and nourishes them; it produces them and does not claim them as its own; it does all, and yet does not boast of it; it presides over all, and yet does not control them. This is what is called 'The mysterious Quality' (of the Tao).
